Explosion leaves several units of Northeast Portland apartment complex uninhabitable

PORTLAND, Ore. — At least one person was burned in an explosion at a Northeast Portland apartment complex Wednesday morning, Portland Fire & Rescue said.

Crews responded to the explosion at the Prescott Terrace Apartments, 5725 NE Prescott St., at around 6:30 a.m.

Video from Portland Fire and Rescue shows at least one apartment unit was significantly damaged in the explosion. Latest Portland News Officials say a portion of the apartment complex will be uninhabitable.



Officials said one adult is at the Emmanuel burn center with severe injuries.

Portland Fire and Rescue said 13 people live in the wing where the explosion occurred and five or six of them live on that floor.

Officials said six units will be rehoused and the rest will temporarily stay in a motel Press Release Distribution Service.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
