A Vancouver police officer was involved in a shooting with a wrong-way driver early Tuesday morning, the police department said. Now, officers are searching for the suspect.
Police said they first responded to a call of suspicious circumstances near Fourth Plain Boulevard and Grand Boulevard.
When officers arrived in the area, they saw a suspect driving the wrong way.
At one point, the police department said the suspect fired shots and an officer returned fire. Latest Portland News The suspect then reportedly fled and officers have been searching for him since.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s.
Police said no officers were hurt in the shooting and they don't know if the suspect was hit by gunfire.
Officers located the suspect's car and said they have a good idea of who the suspect is.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation, the police activity caused backups and delays on Interstate 5 northbound at milepost one near Mill Plain Boulevard.
